Tropical Match 2 is a match-3 puzzle game that returns to the beautiful tropical islands that Coco the parrot calls home. In a small cove near a sailboat, the player completes tasks given to them by Coco across hundreds of levels to earn points, coins, stars and other rewards. If they do well in the first part of the game, they reveal new island areas hidden by cloud cover beyond a green bamboo gate.
On each level, the game presents the player with one or more checkerboards that contain a variety of items, including light blue shells, red starfish, yellow bananas and white flowers. The player must remove specific numbers and types of items before they run out of moves.
Tropical Match requires the player to deal with increasingly difficult challenges, such as pebble squares and ice barriers surrounding items. That said, it also provides them with numerous tools to help them complete these tasks.
The player can remove items by aligning three or more in a column or row, or creating special power items called line and cross blasts. By aligning five items, they can create a four-petal rainbow clover color bomb that removes all items that match any one item swapped with it. If they swap two of these bombs, they can remove every item on a board with one move.
Over time, the player also unlocks swap, mallet and rocket boosters. In some areas of the island, they receive special items, boosters and extra coins by opening gifts and treasure chests, playing a lucky spin wheel and popping bubbles. The game allows them to activate and use five extra moves and additional tools as well.
